Luna presents the crown EG — The *Element of Magic* crown.

The Elements of Harmony are six supernatural artifacts representing subjective aspects of harmony. The narration during the prologue of the Friendship is Magic’s first episode premiere describes the Elements of Harmony as "the most powerful magic known to ponydom". In the fourth season’s second episode, Princess Twilight Sparkle - Part 2, it is revealed that the Elements of Harmony were found and taken from the Tree of Harmony by Princess Celestia and Princess Luna thousands of years ago. However, doing so had the potential to release the Everfree Forest and destroy Equestria. Each artifact represents an element of friendship and can only work if wielded by one who possesses the corresponding trait and if all six are used in conjunction. They have been wielded on rare occasions, particularly during events marked by danger and anarchy as a last resort to restore and enforce the balance of peace and order. However, the effects of their use are generally temporary and non-lethal, usually a form of banishment or imprisonment.

Only the Element of Magic appears physically in this film, where Princess Cadance also mentions that Twilight's princess crown is actually her Element of Harmony, even though it looks different. The princess’s crown is from then on a lighter shade of gold and is not decorated with oval sapphires. The star-shaped gem is positioned lower. The crown rests horizontally, not vertically, on Twilight's head.

Sunset Shimmer steals the crown – the element of magic – hinting to Twilight that something "happens when you bring an Element of Harmony into an alternate world". She uses it to turn herself into a demonic creature and enslave the inhabitants of the human world, and states that she will bring her army through the portal to conquer Equestria. When Sunset attempts to destroy Twilight, her friends shield her, and the element of magic activates and gives them the power to defeat Sunset Shimmer.

The rough animatic version of Twilight’s element of Magic crown is shown during the song Rainbow Rocks.

My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Friendship Games

In the climax of this film, the reformed Sunset Shimmer briefly uses the Elements (sans the element of magic) to reform the human Twilight Sparkle after being transformed into Midnight Sparkle.

Both human and Equestrian Applejack (formerly Princess Luna and later Princess Celestia) possesses the element of honesty. In the first film, Applejack’s human counterpart briefly channels the Element of Honesty to reform Sunset Shimmer back to normal.

Like Applejack from Equestria, Applejack from the human world also values honesty above all else.

Fluttershy — Kindness

Both human and Equestrian Fluttershy (originally Princess Celestia) possesses the element of kindness. In the first film, Fluttershy’s human counterpart briefly channels the Element of Kindness to reform Sunset Shimmer back to normal.

Fluttershy from the human world also shows her love of animals and her kindness as well as her Equestrian self.

Pinkie Pie — Laughter

Both human and Equestrian Pinkie Pie (formerly Princess Luna and later Princess Celestia) possesses the element of laughter. In the first film, Pinkie’s human counterpart briefly channels the Element of Laughter to reform Sunset Shimmer back to normal.

Like Pinkie Pie from Equestria, Pinkie Pie from the human world also love spreading laughter to everyone.

Rarity — Generosity

Both human and Equestrian Rarity (originally Princess Celestia) possesses the element of generosity. In the first film, Rarity’s human counterpart briefly channels the Element of Generosity to reform Sunset Shimmer back to normal.

Rarity from the human world is mainly generous as well as her Equestrian counterpart.

Rainbow Dash — Loyalty

Both human and Equestrian Rainbow Dash (formerly Princess Luna and later Princess Celestia) possesses the element of loyalty. In the first film, Rainbow Dash’s human counterpart briefly channels the Element of Loyalty to reform Sunset Shimmer back to normal.

Like Rainbow Dash’s Equestrian counterpart, the human world’s Rainbow Dash is also loyal to her friends.

Twilight Sparkle — Magic

And lastly, only Twilight Sparkle from Equestria (originally Princess Celestia) possesses the element of magic. In the first film, she channels her own element (as well as the other Elements of Harmony) and her human friends’ to reform Sunset Shimmer back to normal.
